At UT, this is what a graduate adviser does:

• Advise grad students.
• Approve registration (when needed).
• Make sure student records are kept.
• Refer students to other people as needed.
• Certify to the Graduate Studies Committee that students has completed all of the degree requirements for graduation.

The graduate adviser is a professor in the program (and a member of the Graduate Studies Committee).

Currently, the graduate adviser is Prof. Lorenzo Alvisi.

For fall 2012, Prof. Don Fussell is acting in Prof. Alvisi's absence.
